When it comes to wedding entertainment, the most common option is to bring in a DJ. But this option may not be suitable for all types of weddings. At big events such as traditional or formal weddings with a large number of guests being elderly people, a DJ may not be appropriate. You will have to give your guests something quite elegant and formal. Live band music becomes the most appropriate way in this case. Live band music is more fun and entertaining. The guests are able to identify with the bandsmen, watch them play their instruments and perhaps request one or two songs from them. In many cases, the bandsmen can play music or compositions specially tailored or themed for the couple and their guests.
Discuss the type of guests you will need. For an elderly profile, something soft and easy will do. They should be able to perfectly imitate popular ones or compose their own. During the booking process, you can get them to play some of their pieces so that you can judge their competence. Playing great music is not all. The band must be able to perform onstage. Watch a past video to see how they perform. A good band must have a back-up power source in the event of a power failure. Ask them for one. If possible inspect their equipment, speakers, mixers and instruments to ascertain their preparedness for your event.
Live music needs a lot of space. You must be able to determine in advance if your venue has the right floor. Again, live band music can be very loud. You will have to know the noise restrictions in the locality you are holding the reception. You must also include in your contract that will transport the band to the venue. If in doubt, the band may be waiting for you to pick them up when you thought they would come on their own. This situation can delay the event and embarrass the couple. Again, you must ensure that the transportation of the bandsmen is well insured. Lastly, the live band must be able to play music that best matches the occasion. For elderly guests you need elegant music and perhaps of less common genre like waltz.
